The broth 12 hours later. Itll simmer the rest of the day while I'm m at work then get divided up into containers for storage. This is a super easy way to use up scraps and bones. #queersteading

Basic chicken broth- one chicken carcass chopped, 3 or so celery stalks, 1 onion cut into mb 8ths, 3 carrots cut into 2 inch or so pieces, 3 cloves of garlic, handful of pepper corns, 1 anise seed, various herbs and bay leaves. Cover with water set on high in the slow cooker for 8 hours, them low for another 10. Overkill? Yes, but this is the best bone broth ever. If I had more time tonight I'd have thrown the carrots and carcass and onions maybe garlic I tot he oven and given then a hot roasting before drenching in water. I'll end up with 3 or 4 quarts of broth from this. Super flavorful and super easy. It'll get paired with some veggies, noodles, and eggs for some soup in a week or 2. I'll freeze some of it.

Ok I know this pick isnt great but. My NaNo novel is now at 62132 words over 1000 of them written today in NovelPad.co (writing a full review on that soon) the tracking in this browser based writing app is great. It really is awesome to help keep me aware of my writing goals and how much work I need to do. Anyway. This story is shaping up nicely. I've gone back and editted a few scenes to get the flow right and correct names.

We were supposed to have a.big storm roll through here, but we've gotten mostly rain. But I like to make broth or soup on gross nights like this. This has the last of the Turkey bones and Turkey in it.plus a container of broth fixings I toss into the freezer. When I cook and I have carrot peels, ends of celery, and onion pieces all or that goes into a tub I keep in the freezer. I have another with chicken skin and bones. This had a tub of those scraps, plus a few pieces of fresh celery and a couple of carrots, an onion, garlic, and a handful of spices and ginger. I'm going for a pho like flavor. The house smells like pho. This will get jarred into quart Mason jars while boiling. I may then hot water can it. But if I'm honest this won't need to be canned, well go through it in 2 weeks or so. Im thinking of making another batch of kimchi soup, and this will be great with it. We may also do some pho with it. Or add some miso. Or maybe I'll make some fresh ramen. Another sculpey repair. This mug... has sentimental value. The handle broke into 3 pieces and no matter what type of super glue I used it would not hold. I had planned on attempting a rubberized handle with sugru, but had the sculpey here today. We'll see how long this lasts. I might need to add another layer to it. Dried hot peppers all are habanero or hotter, the jar to the left that is packed full is a mix of reapers, butch t scorpions, and regular scorpions. Then my weirdo peppers, habaneros, and all my yellow and peach colored peppers. My new spice grinder is arriving Wednesday and these will get ground into flakes and powders. Some will be gifts for friends. I am super excited by how these covers came out. The background is a copy of an old thesaurus page magnified to 200% or so. The crumpled and scanned then printed onto ivory colored cover stock that is the exact same shade as the old yellowed thesaurus page. Meta. This is what they first look like when the come out of the printer. This 65lb voverstock feels like 110lb and the printer LOVES it. It is made for color.offset. gonna remember this brand for the future. And I just found a typo and it is epic. It seems like it couldn't possibly have been a year ago, but a year ago I snagged 40 years worth of Scientific American. That is over 400 magazines. Dude included extras too. The set was nearly complete. He paled when i said they'd get read and then used for collage materials. Issue 2 of Useful Journaling is going to get a random page slid in between the cover and pages, each helpfully labeled ephemera. I dont know why but that makes me chuckle. There are blocks of words, images, ads and slightly yellowed pages all front 1986. So cool. So I'll be sending bits of those old magazines out as part of my zine. Whoa. It took some serious work, and an almost complete disassembly of the color laser printer BUT check out that clean crisp printing. Sharp and clear. I am sooooo stoked. I was looking at prices for new printers and WOW are color lasers $$$ I didn't realize just how big a gift this was. Repairing it is definitely worth the time and investment. I do see that I'll need a new scraper bar in the image transfer belt unit, which is a measly $15 or less. Amazing. Sold out in 1 weekend. Love all the support and great people. A second printing will occur with some changes to the cover mostly. But I probably won't be able to get to that until Tuesday at the earliest. The cover change will be printing greyscale on yellow cardstock the color printer needs a part cleaned and I've got to rip it apart to do that.
