Comfortable Shoes Studio

Comfortable Shoes Studio is the name of my little studio in Beverly, Massachusetts; here I paint large watercolors, smaller acrylics, and mostly bind books and journals. I specialize in custom bound journals and sketchbooks with adhesive-free sewing in which the sewing is visible and decorative on the spine. If you're interested please email me!

Stoked, great germination on these Bride Eggplant seeds. I put 17 of them into soil tonight. I also potted another 35 peppers. 149 seedlings so far. I also snagged some trays for pots at the local recycle shed and more of the black cups I drill out for longer term holding until i plant in the ground. Really excited about that. Seeds are from @kitazawa_seed also amazing germination from the Gochujang King pepper seeds. Spring can't get here soon enough. #growshit #urbanoasis #citysteading #cityfarm #eggplant #asianveggies #youcantbuythisinstores

Ten seedlings above ground. Mostly Aleppo, one fish, and one lemon starburst. First pic is 30 cups of sage. I was not kidding when I said I had great germination on it this year. I now have 95 seedlings started. Right now they don't take up much space at all. #growshit #hotpeppers #urbanoasis #citysteading #cityfarm #suburbskills #growingfood

Tray number 2. 10 gochujang king peppers, 10 lemon spice jalapenos, an assortment of others. 35 peppers total. More popping open in wet paper towels. Germination is high. I'm running out of empty kcups. LOL Yes, all those little pots are cleaned out and recycled kcups with holes cut into the bottom. They work great. #proudplantmom #growshit #eatgoodfood #hot #citysteading #cityfarm #urbanoasis #upcycle #reuse

Huge germination on my sage seeds. Seems they like it around 60°f. These are the old sage seeds, from 2020 planting. Can't wait to see results with the 2021 seeds. These will grow a bit more before I put them in soil. Probably 15 seeds have germinated so far. Can't wait for it . #proudplantmom #growshit #eatgoodfood #foodie #urbanoasis #citysteading #cityfarm

45 degrees out so I'm outside dealing with problem trees and bushes. Really loving my chain saw and already wanting a gas one. My skills at cutting firewood need work. The orange wood on the right is plum, it is gorgeous. I wish I had spoon carving skills. The brush in the pile behind the wood will go in the bottom of my raised beds to slowly rot down. We're planning on putting in a fire pit or a cob style pizza oven behind the garage so I'm going to stack the wood and let it dry out eventually. I need a wood chipper to deal with the brush and vines. #suburbskills #growshit #urbanoasis #citysteading #cityfarm

Picked up this used old homesite electric chainsaw. Mainly I'll be using it for rough breakdown of pallets but also to deal with a problem tree in the yard. Learned how to sharpen the blade and check the depth gauges. Itll need a new chain/blade soon, but for now, pretty excited about it. I'm also cleaning up the greasy mess on it. #growshit #urbanoasis #citysteading #cityfarm #maker #makergonnamake

I've been running through edX classes on a variety of subjects (they are all related and make sense) and these cards represent a bunch of learning. When I'm doing paperwork, I've got videos running (or music for stuff that requires my attention) and my go to note taking method is the humble index card. These have been separated into stacks that make sense together for now. But there are other shuffles that make sense too. Index cards are rad. #stationery #penaddict #RSVPstationerypodcast #pencils #erasable #indexcard #hipsterpda #fountainpen

Sippin' some decaf in my 90s mugs with essential oils and journaling to celebrate the banning of the yam from social media. 6 years too late but whatever. #relaxation #selfcare that stack of index cards and paper is the seeds of a Useful Journaling issue.

I found a vintage metal index card holder just like the one I already have for $2. I'll use it for new card storage. I'm paying for it in dimes... in a dime bag. (I store pepper and other seeds in dime bags from the craft store.)

  • Here's a shot of my index for @jeanettehouse when I have a break in what I'm writing about I add a comma then the next page for that topic. Take RSVP discussion questions those are on page 39, 40, 43, and 44 so far. My vision statement ponderings are on page 34-35, 45. I have also set this up very different from the typical #bujo #bulletjournal it is basic because my side hustle needs are different than my work needs. In this case I don't use a daily log, simply a future log with a monthly log with space for a general to do list. I use a future log, monthly log, and daily log at my dayjob. #basicbulletjournal
