I used this print to teach kids about the use of found objects and letter press. Really did the combo of this yellow and.browm together. Yes the print isn't perfect, it was meant to be rough and uneven. I really dig how this came out. I have another idea for printing some found objects but it is even more out there than this. Decided to make myself a little journal while I made a bunch for the teens that work in my studios. I decided to work some collage in it. I snagged a batch of antique maps, shared a few but snagged some for me. Laying down some basic journal pages. 40 super heavy weight pages, kid. It's been quite a long time since I made my own book cloth. Probably 10 or more years. cotton cloth printed with hello plates and acrylic paint. 1:3 pva:methyl cellulose for the glue. Long open time and dries clear and sturdy. Perfectly stiff for cutting to size and best of all not a bit of stretch. #bookbinding #printplay #printandbooksgotogether

It's been a MINUTE since I made a hardback book this little baby is a mere 5x3 ish inches and a fat .75 inches thick. The paper is super thick cardstock I happened upon. 10 signatures of 2 sheet each to make 80 pages. I held.off.on posting it since I made it to gift during our Yankee swap at work. I paired it with a bottle of my cyser. It was sealed several times. I both love and hate Yankee swaps. I snagged a piece of art that lights up with LED lights.

I did 2 more copies of the forest plate. This time inked with a loose blue black. I dig it more this way. The looser ink and increased press pressure gave a much better print. Also the looser ink really lifted off the plate. The upper areas were nearly clean of ink when I finished. This paper is awful though. It was decently damp but still buckled. I have no idea what kind of paper it is. I suspect it is a mixed media paper, just a thin one. One print was over wiped the other a little under. I think these night look better with Paynes grey ink. I like the way the glue resist looks and the texture from the tissue, nut the tissue is hard to wipe and get a good image. The lower half is hard to get an even wipe. I think I need to ink the trees a little better too. Another option is that the pressure wasn't enough or paper not damp enough. #printplay #printmaking #print #trashprintmaking #collagraph
