I spent the day out on the water with the kid's leadership group from RAW. Then we went to the cape ann museum and made some prints. It was great. It's been years since I've been in the water. Who knew that at 45 I'd be using basic framing skills I learned while helping my dad with the addition to the house when I was 12. I think that @mitchelka we might've over engineered the table a bit. This think is tough stuff so far.

I don't post a lot about work, but here are a couple of pics of art my kids made. They made collage papers and then wonderful collaged backgrounds finally they hand cut the letters of the words. This will get a final addition of the festival details and the kids will get copies on cardstock. They did awesome work. #printplay #print #collage #texture #posterdesign

The texture rubbings make 2types of collage papers when combined with the gel plates- the prints in deli paper and the rubbings itself with the paint scraped off the crayon. The first pic is the base layer of a collage with some pieces of the rubbings adhered to it with gloss medium the other pics are of the prints on deli paper. I walked around the block and made crayon rubbings of a variety of things. Then I came back and added watercolor in a related color to create collage papers. Each page is unique and fun. I'm going to do this with a group and then turn the papers into a cage that advertises an event in the city. Textures of the city become art about the city. I try to make sure we put our materials away in good working order. The gel plates have been through the ringer before I got to them. I am attempting to revive them through pressure and a flat surface. I am also planning on giving them a bit of a mineral oil massage too. I am of the thought that gel plates belong in every print studio- whether they are commercially made or homemade, they belong. Things you can teach on a gel plate- how to properly roll out ink, process colors, building up layers of ink, stencils and masking, registration, and probably a hundred things I can't even think of. I love gel plates. I know a lot of folx are super snobby about them and they shouldn't be. #gelplate #print #printmaking

Once a month I look at the hrc's list of trans people who have died by violence. I'm always struck by how most are women of color. Today I add 5 more stickers to the side of the elevator entrance that I randomly decided would be where I created the memory spot. Jeebus crisco it chokes me up everytime I write these out and put them on the elevator. #Blacktranslivesmatter #fuckterfs That's 16 so far this year.

For the first time since my neighbor damaged my kiwi vines I have kiwi fruit. I had to trim back a great deal of the vines. But they look great. I finally got the lawn mower to work. Yay.

Work gave me a bit of a bonus so I splurged a bit and bought myself a few art tools and materials. This is a catalyst spatula. Saturday silicone is great for scooping gel medium out of a deep tub. It can also be used to scrape paint across a board or collage. The handle feels great too. I already have their large wedge for adhering collage materials and scraping paint. These tools are worth it. #artistsoninstagram #arttools
