Comfortable Shoes Studio is the name of my little studio in Beverly, Massachusetts; here I paint large watercolors, smaller acrylics, and mostly bind books and journals. I specialize in custom bound journals and sketchbooks with adhesive-free sewing in which the sewing is visible and decorative on the spine. If you're interested please email me!

I've been quiet on here. I should've posted my #secularsundaystudy of Mindfulness &Acceptance for Addictive Behaviors, a fantastic book all about working with addiction using mindfulness. Thus far I really like that it looks at addiction as a a series of maladaptive methods of coping, ie a learned response with a genetic component. It also explores all of the above in context of dual diagnosis- basically without MH issues addiction is less likely, though possible. If you do mindfulness work with the dual diagnosis population this is a great book. (Much of the work suggested within also applies to OCD and ED.) #secularstudy #stationery #goodwork

Filled the @writepads fingerprint in near record time-7 days. There are a lot of notes on Getting Things Done in there. Moved into a No Brand that I stamped with a mini mandala which looked like a snowflake, waaaaat too early for that, so I used some dark yellow washi to make a stripe, which makes the stamp look green. Win. Working on my next bicolor pencil round up, I'm 3 pencils in, got 2 more to go. Some surprises with that! #stationery

A little #secularstudy to settle my mind for the weekend. Some people drink on Friday night, I read. Boring, I know but I'm a nerd. Anyway, another chap in GTD. Hoooboy chap 9 is one big repeat of chap 2. A little less of the patriarchy here, Allen even makes room for a male assistant. There is a lot more in-depth exploration of the manners of organizing your lists and actions. #stationery digging the @baronfig Spectre for notes and at work. #stationery

Retiring the 73 after a turn in the extender. Picking up a No.1 they might be diabeetus shoe grey but the core is a Pearl, plus it's round. What isn't to love? Have been doing some #secularstudy of GTD again. Chap 7and 8 were repetative slogs to get through. GET CLEAR. GET CURRENT. GET CREATIVE. Ugh DA ugh. How early 00s can you get. I mean, I get it you need a catch phrase, but ugh. It's like Godin and his effing tribe bs. Anyway weekly review of your systems is super important, migrate those tasks! #pencil #stationery

Reading Work Clean after it was brought up in the RSVP podcast group. Thanks for the rec @thestorysupplyco Having worked in the food industry I'm always wary of outsiders that seem to fetishize working with food. I used to screen applicants and I always had folks pink slipped from their fancy office job who thought they could work the line or butcher because they watched Bourdain or another cooking show. Kitchen work is hard work. It isn't all fancy gleaming steel and gleaming wood countertops. I never saw one of these office guys survive a week working in prep foods, they usually end up hurt. Further, the "we can learn a lot from the blue collar chefs" tells you a lot about how the author thinks or does not about these folks. It is elitist and condescending and perhaps a bit... Patronizing? I'm still figuring out my thoughts on this one. Anyway, boyfriend threw some serious shade at GTD with this line. Sick burn. Sorry for all the #secularsundaystudy posts today but I've bee. Reading as I catch up with laundry and stuff I should done while I was sick.
