Winter island feels a lot like Maine. My co-worker remarked that I seemed, "really relaxed lately." And bro, I am. I've been going outside and walking for about an hour every am before work and it's been awesome. I talk about this in the next ep of the blog. Walking and spending time outside has been everything.

I had a nice if too short a ride today. I hit 7.5 miles or 12.4 km. Pretty flat even going. BG readings are good. But came home to my college girl neighbors blasting back country and hooting and hollering, to the point the neighbor kids were screaming back at them asking what was wrong. It's all girls gone wild over there. I suppose better that than judgemental preaching at the queers next door. Relaxing and had a nice chat with the bean trust guy.

I took some time for myself and finally printed this collagraph plate I made a year ago. I enjoy how it turned out especially with the pop of red. This is #trashprintmaking at it's most basic. I gathered some trash I found when out and about, then glued it together, altered it a bit, then added a healthy layer of shellac. I printed it intaglio and relief style. The black is intaglio and the red relief rolled. It's a peppy little commentary on people that toss trash out onto the street as they drive through. The unrecyclable nature of fast food packaging ( a combo of grease and plastic) mean that though the paper and grease may rot away the plastic lingers in a yard or eco system for years and years before degrading down into micro plastic. The more I get outside the more littering pisses me off.

I had a walking work meeting at the beach. But I showed up early and did 2 miles before the meeting then read part of a terrible book (a guy raced the continental divide and the prose is so purple and word use so... Off based I laughed out loud at one point. Not self pubbed tho) anyway, then we walked for 3 miles. I took a screen shot of the spot where I forgot to turn my tracker back on and it looks like I walked through a section of Lynn beach that no one should walk through yet people were walking it bare foot. It smells so bad in there... Anyway, even though it says 4.8 miles it was actually 5.2 ish. A good walk before work! #livingwithtype2diabetes #walking

Picked up the Sensah rx10 and a 10speed cassette for under $100. I was hoping to put them on the bike but yesterday was cold AF and today it has poured rain all day. They will go on next weekend. Gonna be awesome. I will probably drop the front down to 2 rings somewhere in the middle of where they are now. But for now, I'm stoked to go 10 options in the back. So I ended up doing 25 miles/41km. I'm going to hurt tomorrow but I think pushing my limit today was worth it. So notes. I need a new saddle for long rides like this. The current saddle is only good for short commutes and quick rides. My ass is going to hurt tomorrow.im going to head out to the bike shop tomorrow and see if they have a charge ladle to check out. My thighs are sore but not awful. I should have planned a shorter 15 mile round trip but I really wanted to see if I could do it. All things considered. I did it and I feel pretty good even if I am sore. Also some of my bike parts arrived today. Got a good 6 mile ride in, next weekend I'm going for a much longer ride. Big head inds on half the ride. These are the "gravel" tires I bought. Very inexpensive but lots of grip on the pavement and gravel, I'm surprised at how much grip they provide. I like 'em especially for the price! Feeling like trash. New type 2 meds are throwing me for a loop and kept me up most of the night but my new bike cassette arrive today and it's huge also about 2 weeks early my new handle bars arrived. Friday night excitement - cleaning and repacking the bearings in the bike. It was sorely in need of the teardown and repacking. The old factory yellow grease was black. Cones and seats looked good with minimal amount of wear. Repacking them with Lucas red bearing grease and they feel very good. I also mounted my new tires which are wider than the old slicks. They were cheap but look like they'll ride well enough. I'll put them back on tomorrow and pump them up. Pretty happy with the job so far. I'll also put the pedals on. Turned this trash print I to a poster sized collage. Once this layer dries I'll add more collage and some brushed on paint. Much happier with it than I was. Also, silicone "brushes" are killer for collage like this. Spreads the gel medium without damaging the paper. #artinprocess #collage #printmaking #printplay #artist

Snagged these on a great sale. These are going in the commuter being turned into a tourer. I had planned on the color for this bike being yellow but saw this baby blue and went for it. So the colors o this bike are white, gray, and baby blue... But I know some of the anodized parts will end up a different shade of blue... I'm going to gel print with several of my groups for the next few weeks sooooo I ordered a BUNCH of hard rubber rollers and silicone brushes plus 8 new 8*10 gel plates plussssss deli paper. Y'all this is magic.
