New seed germination experiment. 19 vials. 3 are single types of soak for things I know work for that variety already. 8 hot and super hot varieties. 10 seeds rinsed of capsaicin then divided, 5 each into a vial of water (filtered) and 1% hydrogen peroxide and soaked for 48 hours. All seeds will go into damp paper towels and baggies in a 75°F hot box. They will be monitored daily for signs of germination. When tap roots hot 1cm/.5in they will be transferred to soil. Expectations: in previous tests water and 1% peroxide worked equally well. I suspect that the rinse makes the most difference in germination and that water/1% peroxide work equally well for softening the seed shell. Other % of peroxide should be tested. I've compiled a list of scholarly articles of research on hot peppers in regards to techniques for germination and the effect capsaicin has on germination. A link will be provided when I write up my findings and post it to fermentstuff.com #growshit #hotpeppers #urbanoasis #citysteading #cityfarm #pepper #hotpeppers #wintergarden #proudplantmom
